Ayurveda Community Cleanse

Are you ready to feel light and energetic? Are you ready to give your immune system a boost?

The seasons are changing. The cool, moist, heavy and soft qualities of the spring follow the cold, dry and rough qualities of the winter.

Everyone is waiting for the spring to come and looking so much forward to it. However, when it finally arrives, we often feel heavy, lethargic, congested instead of the desired fresh, energetic, and light.

Seasonal transitions are notoriously challenging for our body, particularly winter to spring.

We might come into the new season with an existing imbalance, for example we have eaten heavy food during the winter and over-indulged on sweet treats, which is ok as we needed the energy. However, if we carry this imbalance over into the new season it then creates these feelings of heaviness and being tired, it creates congestion and stagnation in our body.

Ayurveda strongly recommends seasonal cleanses during the transitional periods. Here are some of the benefits to look forward to:

  • throw out the imbalance of the old season and come fresh into the new one.

  • remove toxins, Ama, which can lead to illnesses further down the line if left in the body.

    • Signs of Ama being present in our body can be a thick coating of the tongue, a bloated feeling, a sluggish digestion, and a heavy and tired feeling when we get up in the morning.

  • strengthen our digestive fire, Agni.

    • Signs of a weak digestive fire are bloating, sluggish digestion, lack of appetite, tiredness after food.

  • strengthen our immune system.

  • offer time for the body to adapt to the foods and tastes of the new season.

  • feel energised, light and refreshed again.

  • restore balance of the five elements (ether, air, fire, water, earth).

What does the cleanse entail?

It is a period of 7 days (for best effect, shorter is possible too), of

  • drinking warm drinks only, letting go of coffees and teas, fizzy drinks, and alcohol.

  • eating warm, home cooked foods, tasty soups three times a day. It is not about staying hungry and not eating, but more so about what you eat and when.

  • there are optional supporting herbs that can be taken.

  • plenty of self-care.

  • enjoying supporting Yoga and breathing practices.

  • enjoying the support of a group and myself with daily check-ins.

Who is the cleanse for?

  • Cleanses are beneficial for all body types and if you experience any of the above-mentioned imbalances, such as congestions of chest, airways or sinuses, allergy flare ups, sluggish digestion, feelings of heaviness.

  • And everyone who would like to rebalance and re-align with the priorities in life.

  • In general, cleanses are not advised for children, during pregnancy and postnatally, if you are ill.

Is a cleanse challenging?

Absolutely, a cleanse pushes our buttons. We can’t eat what we want and when we want it. Habits are being exposed, frequent snacking, intake of caffeine etc.

And although all sounds quite simple, it is not for us if we have created that particular habit. It offers a wonderful opportunity though to break with habits which don't serve us any longer.

See it positively: Fasting is only for one week 😊 One week we can manage, right? And if in doubt, we need to focus on the multiple benefits that we can reap.

If the above resonates with you and you would like to join me, book your place.
